When you’re at the airport, chances are you’ll see little variation in the kind of airplanes there. But not every airplane is a Boeing 747 or an Airbus A320. Today, we’ll show you 10 of the craziest airplanes in the world. Number 7 is our personal favorite.

1. A tank with wings

This Russian made airplane, the Kalinin K-7, is more of a tank than a plane, really. The plane was built in 1931 in the Soviet Union, made entirely out of Soviet steel. It was designed by Konstantin Kalinin and housed an enormous machine gun, along with several additional turrets. The plane successfully completed 7 test flights, but unfortunately crashed on its 8th flight. Its development was abandoned in 1935.

2. The Whale Plane

This is the Airbus BelugaXL, a variation of a standard Airbus plane. It has been modified to carry enormous cargo, like airplane parts and military vehicles. It was officially called the Super Transporter, but it quickly gained the nickname Beluga, for its resemblance to the whale. This has since been adopted as its official name.
