How long a person must sleep depends on the age of the person:
Babies:
- 1 – 4 weeks: 15 – 17 hours of sleep per day
- 1 – 4 months: 14 – 15 hours of sleep per day
- 4 – 12 months: 14 – 15 hours of sleep per day
Toddlers
- 1 – 3 years: 12 – 14 hours of sleep per day
- 3 – 6 years: 10 – 12 hours of sleep per day
School aged children
- 6 – 12 years: 10 – 11 hours of sleep per day
Adolescents
- 12 – 18 years: 8 – 10 hours of sleep per day
Adults
- 18 years and older: 7 – 8 hours of sleep per day
