One of the most prominent causes of age spots is exposure to sunlight and therefore UV radiation. People who expose their skin to more sunlight will have more melanin in their skins. Melanin is a natural reaction of the skin to sunlight and it will cause your skin to go darker. These dark spots aren’t dangerous in themselves, but if they go very dark or reddish, then it might be wise to consult a doctor.

Consult your doctor if
– Some spots grow darker than others;
– A dark circle forms around one or more spots;
– The spots keep growing;
– The spots are starting to turn red.

If one of these four points apply to you, please contact a dermatologist or physician. If your age spots are benign, then continue reading to learn some tricks to lighten them and watch the video at the bottom of the page.

DISCLAIMER: There is no guarantee your age spots will disappear completely. Also, results can vary from person to person.
